Project overview

This program aims to connect current graduate students with successful alumni who can provide guidance, support, and valuable insights to our members as they navigate their academic journeys and prepare for their careers.

Current and Potential Professional Mentors

This program seeks to establish a meaningful connection between current graduate students and accomplished African professionals in the United States. By fostering mentorship, we aim to provide our members with valuable guidance, support, and insights to navigate their academic journeys and prepare for their future careers. Discover the rewarding experience of being a mentor or explore the possibilities of finding a mentor to guide you on your path to success. Join us in building a network where mentorship flourishes, creating a bridge between aspiring students and experienced professionals. See our current professional mentors.

As a mentor, you will help shape the minds and career paths of current African graduate students by providing advice and guidance about life in the US and career development as international experts. You have the right to choose whether or not you wish to continue being a mentor to all or specific AGSA members. Contact us if you would like to be a mentor, we would love to have you!

How It Works

  • Potential mentors, contact us if you would like to enroll as a professional mentor. Please feel free to indicate specific terms that work for you.
  • Mentors and AGSA members will be matched based on their professional/academic and sociocultural backgrounds.
  • Mentors decide which mode(s) of communication best work(s) for them. They also decide the frequency of communication. Failure to comply as a mentee shall lead to an expulsion from the mentorship program.
  • Mentors are not obligated to meet with mentees, however, you are very welcome to. Kindly report all feedback to us.
